Pittman Farms is owned and operated by Paul A. Pittman.  The business was founded in 1997 and today owns over 10,000 acres of agricultural land, primarily in Illinois, but also in Colorado and California.  The largest portion of the operation is 7,000 acres of row crop land in West Central Illinois, which is directly operated.  The company also leases land to other farmers when the economics of outsourcing the operations are more profitable.  The company's strategy is to consolidate farmland in order to achieve scale economics.  Specifically, the company is continuously reviewing and acquiring farmland in McDonough, Fulton, Schuyler, Mason and Tazwell counties in Illinois; however, larger farms outside of these counties in Central Illinois are always considered.

In Colorado, the company owns a 1,000 acre irrigated farm in Baca County, in the Southwest part of the state near Walsh, Colorado.  The company believes that Colorado represents a big area of growth in the near term and is actively looking to acquire both irrigated and dryland farms in the State.  Currently, the Colorado property is leased to a local operator on a share basis.

In California, the company owns a ranch property and is currently looking to expand into specialty crops in the Central Valley, one of the most productive farmland regions for fruit, nuts and other specialty crops.
